GOAL SETTING FOR PERFORMERS

It's that time of year, #GOALSETTING season has begun! We love the adrenaline, optimism, and energy that fills our offices in January - it's electric! But we always feel a little sad when that same energy has become deflated due to unattainable goals being set. We don't want to see any deflation this year! We are gunna ROAR through 2019 with positivity and end it with as much lust for life as we have begun!

Our main focus as we set our own goals this season was to accept that in this industry their is only so much within our control. This is even

more true for our artists and performers. As a performer an enormous amount of professional achievement is left in the hands of someone else, the casting director, producers, editors, audience members, reviewers - you name it! Performance arts are certainly not for the weak. That is why we always encourage our artists and team members to set goals that are within their control. You can control if you go see one local performance a month; you can control if you get your butt into class this year, you can control the connections you make in the industry, you can control your personal branding (and in this day in age personal branding can change the face of your career!). So, set goals that are within your power to reach, and don't rely on outside forces to make you feel successful. Successful performers are active members of their arts communities, they attend shows, volunteer their time, hone their craft, and tell other artists when they were amazing and make new connections forged in mutual understanding- booking and not booking is a part of this wonderful and weird artistic life but it is not the only way to measure your success!
